打字機兩端對齊?

本週一(923日),總統府召開記者會解釋「論文門」事件,發言人為博士論文「不合理」處提出各種解釋,許多理由真假難辨,如今我只針對一點提出質疑。
眾所周知,1983年沒有電腦排版,「兩端對齊」是不可能的。
什麼是「兩端對齊」?
以下這段文字就沒有兩端對齊。
English is the largest language by number of speakers,[10] and the third most-spoken native language in the world, after Standard Chinese and Spanish.[11] It is the most widely learned second language and is either the official language or one of the official languages in almost 60 sovereign states. There are more people who have learned it as a second language than there are native speakers. It is estimated that there are over 2 billion speakers of English.[12] 

這段文字每一行的尾端,忽前忽後,很不美觀。
如今WORDS系統點選「兩端對齊」,轉瞬間上文便可排成下文:

看到了吧——尾端十分整齊,可是這功能在1983年根本不存在。
小英當年提交的論文,其中90%(334)都呈現兩端對齊——質疑者因這理由,推定那本論文絕非1983年之作。
針對這質疑,總統府發言人如何回應?
發言人說:「論文寫作期間為1981年至1983年,當年是用打字機一頁一頁打,也是一頁一頁設定。有設定就有對齊,沒有設定就沒有對齊。」
乍聽之下十分有道理。
一頁一頁設定有何不可?
可是,你經歷過沒有電腦排版,單純打字機的年代嗎?
打字機是全然「機械式反應」。它無法存檔, 更不可能事先預料「某一行」會從哪一個字跳到下一行。
好比下例英文:
English is the largest language by number of speakers,[10] and the third most-spoken native language in the world, after Standard Chinese and Spanish.[11] It is the most widely learned second

如果使用打字機,實際打完整行以前,請問誰能預料會在spoken」、「native或「language」之後跳行
不單要準確預料在「spoken」之後跳行還要了解尾端缺了4個字母
   


由於缺了4個字母,所以這一行最前的4個字,每一個字的後面都要塞入1個「空白鍵」。
一行一行設定——想出這理由的人,想必沒有經歷打字機年代。
他的想法是能夠看到螢幕上的檔案,好比以下這段文字:

有了螢幕畫面,再移動「游標」在螢幕上「一行一行設定」,「一字一字調整」,把尾端那個字推到「右邊」界線。
如果是印刷排版,或許有可能。
僅僅使用打字機,缺少螢幕「檔案畫面」,一行一行設定「兩端對齊」,那是天方夜譚!
